WELCOME TO THE FELLOWSHIP WEBSITE OF DR RICHARD HODGKINSON
Richard is one of 11 “NFFDy” (National Fellowships in Fluid Dynamics) fellows in the UK, funded by UKRI, with a ~4 year ~£0.5M fellowship to explore a new area of fluid mechanics.
Based in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at The University of Sheffield, Richard’s interests are hands-on, interdisciplinary and often experimental in nature, with a focus towards unusual or novel instrumentation development for a particular challenge.

Richard’s “S.E.C.R.E.T.” (Shear Extension Combined Rheology Experimental Techniques) fellowship aims to foster a new understrstanding of the rheology of complex fluids under industrially relevant “kinematically mixed” flows. This builds on his previously developed “ToPSREF” two phase flow technique.
